Shubh Deepavali and Nutan Varsh Abhinandan

As we welcome the auspicious Hindu festival of Deepavali, I extend my warmest greetings on behalf of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK). Deepavali is a time of joy, reflection, and renewal – a celebration of light dispelling darkness and the triumph of righteousness, as symbolised by the return of Bhagwan Shri Ram to Ayodhya. This festival brings with it an enduring message of hope, resilience, and the strength of community spirit.

Deepavali holds a deeper significance as we embrace the essence of Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam – the profound premise that the whole world is one family. At a time when global challenges remind us of our shared responsibility toward one another, Deepavali invites us to celebrate unity, togetherness, and the strength that comes from knowing we are all interconnected.

The universal prayer, Asatoma Sadgamaya – from untruth to truth, from darkness to light, and from ignorance to wisdom – reminds us to strive for these qualities in our daily lives, extending compassion and service to those around us, and continuing to develop ourselves and the dharma in all that we do.

At HSS (UK), we are dedicated to nurturing a spirit of togetherness through meaningful actions and outreach that embody the spirit of Parivaar Bhav, the feeling of family. Through initiatives such as Sewa in Action (serving the communities around us), Shikshak Vandan Divas (A deep appreciation for all the teachers in our lives), Raksha Bandan (Honouring the emergency services that protect us), and UK Parliament Week (Nurturing our civic duty and engagement), in addition to our core weekly shakha activities, we foster the core tenets of Sanskaar (good character and values), Sewa (selfless service) and Sangathan (community spirit) that binds us all in good citizenship.

This Deepavali, as our celebrations may take different forms, let us continue to reflect the virtues of Caring and Sharing, building bonds of friendship and empathy that go beyond boundaries. May this festive season inspire each of us to live with greater compassion, humility, and a renewed sense of purpose toward creating a more harmonious world. Together, let us nurture a future where everyone can flourish, uplifted by the spirit of unity.

On behalf of HSS (UK), I wish you all a Shubh Deepavali and Nutan Varsh Abhinandan. May this New Year bring peace, prosperity, and fulfilment to our communities.
